BOMBSHELL of a complaint filed two days ago in Hinds County Circuit Court. Leisha Pickering, the estranged spouse of former Rep. Chip Pickering, has filed an alienation of affection suit against the former Congressman's alleged paramour. Former Supreme Court Justice Chuck McRae represents Leisha Pickering.
Essentially, Leisha Pickering alleges that Creekmore Byrd was a former college sweetheart of Chip's, and that Creekmore Byrd and Chip rekindled their relationship during the time Leisha and Chip were married.
And yes, Elizabeth Creekmore Byrd is from the CellularSouth Creekmore family.
Here's the complaint:

Sad, sad, sad. Pray for the children.
A husband cheated on his wife. The wife is pissed. Are either of these really what we'd call bombshells?
Hell hath no fury...
uh, the business about the Senate seat is a bombshell, Anonymous.
I note that the Clarion-Ledger has broken the story at 2:20 this afternoon. No mention of Ipse Blogit.
get used to it. Its why I don't mind ripping them off.
Nice work, Matt.
What is even more interesting is how you were the first one to post this story. The lawyers are prominent Democrats. DID THEY CONTACT YOU AND TELL YOU ABOUT THIS LAWSUIT?
WHO IS PAYING YOU Mr. Craig? The public has a right to know if you are on the take and have sold your soul for some political dollars. How can you look at yourself in the mirror when the level of corruption here is so rancid and undeniable? You should be ashamed for committing these unspeakable acts and showing your true self to all the world. Verily, I would rather get v.d. from your mistress than your politics Mr. Craig. How much have the Democrats paid you to sell out your integrity?
Chill, Kingfish. Matt posted this, not me. For the record, I have not been paid by anyone, anytime, to post on my blog.
I happened upon the hearing this morning, Kingfish. I didn't even know it existed until then. I walked down to the clerk's office during my lunch break, ran a copy of the complaint, and here you have it.
Wow.....At the time I thought it was very odd Pickering gave up his seat in Congress. I should have known it wasn't because of his family like he said but another woman. Five young children...what the hell was he thinking????
Good for her for giving the woman h*ll. Cheating is just wrong and the other woman should pay as well.
Did I read right? Pickering has been having an affair for years, and he documented it in journals? Just unbelievably stupid to say the least. What was the outcome of the hearing? Are the journals in safekeeping?
“Once at a social gathering, Gladstone said to Disraeli, "I predict, Sir, that you will die either by hanging or of some vile disease". Disraeli replied, "That all depends, sir, upon whether I embrace your principles or your mistress."”
Quite excellent, KF. Dizzy had a way with words.
I'm not a lawyer, but I think I understand by reading the court document that the judge in Madison Co. was literally taking away Mrs. Pickering's evidence about Chip's affair and telling her she could not talk about what was in the journals, notes, etc. with anyone including her new lawyer? Also, they wanted to sure NO one had a copy of any of this. This poor woman is being railroaded big time. She had no choice but to file this suit against Beth Byrd.
How on earth could a judge (friend of Chip's dad Judge Chas Pickering???) take away a journal a wife found that disclosed an affair? Who is the judge? And making the wife represent herself while Pickering had attorneys??? What kind of justice is there in MS? This is the real story. And Pickering used Congress to set up the Creekmore's cellular south? Is that legal?
Anonymous@7:30 am, we don't know what all the facts are in Madison Chancery, since the divorce was sealed when it was filed. I personally don't know whether the Madison Chancellor and former Judge Pickering are friends. Quite frankly, I'm sure the Judge, like any parent and grandparent, is grieved to see that any of these events happened.
And we don't know what, if any, relationship there is between Chip Pickering's work on telecommunications issues in Congress and his personal life. Keep in mind that it might be a chicken-and-egg question: maybe he did the work first, and became re-acquainted with Ms. Byrd in the process.
Finally, I personally would stress (as Matt has done) that we only have Mrs. Pickering's side of the story at this point.
That act was passed 13 years ago. Ironically it is also the act that ruined radio.
nice, ice.
in response to Kingfish's rant about Jim Craig being on the take with evil Dem money... if Jim's getting money from anyone, it can't be much. He borrowed my suit for a court case he had and kept it for ten years... it wasn't even an expensive suit.
