What is up with the NFL broadcast rules? The Giants are driving down the field against Atlanta in OT. The NFC East, South, and the wild-card playoff spots are all implicated.
BUT, because the NFL requires the networks to switch at 3:15 Central, they pull the coverage.
And to add insult to injury, Fox didn't even switch to another game. They cut to commercials and then their studio show.
Arghhhhh . . .

Assuming your question isn't rhetorical, the answer is that this rule is part of the broadcast package designed to enhance the value of (and thus exact a higher price for) the doubleheader game, which alternates between Fox and CBS, by making it the exclusive game in its time spot (beginning at 4:15 Eastern). Fox, which didn't have the doubleheader this week, had to cease any broadcast of live games, so it has nothing to "switch to" other than commercials and studio shows -- no insult was intended. Next week Fox will be the beneficiary of the exclusivity rule for the doubleheader game, and CBS will have to cease live game broadcasts at 4:15 Eastern.
