And of course his proposal exempts District Attorneys and Trial Judges. Can you imagine if there was a state-wide PD office? I can just imagine it going something like this:
"While all areas must find efficiencies, we cannot shortchange the state judicial system and its mission to help law enforcement entities put criminals behind bars. Keeping this in mind, we will exempt District Attorneys and trial judges from any pay cuts. Also, the Office of the Public Defender must cut its budget by 50%, ensuring that criminals are prosecuted and provided just a modicum of representation."
