Senator Edward Kennedy, D-MA, passed away last night. Despite his flaws, he was a tireless champion of "the least of these" -- the poor and powerless of our society. He will be greatly missed.

Ted Kennedy is a study in principle before personality. What both he and his family have done, and continue to do, for the voiceless is remarkable. However, it is at times very difficult to ignore the messenger and his tawdry past..
I tried to reach Mary Jo Kopechne to ask her opinion of the Great Champion and Lion of the Senate, but she was unavailable for comment.
The most Sen. Kennedy ever did to help the poor in our society was when he shepherded the efforts to deregulate trucking and the airline industry.
