Attorney Richard Carter works a HUGE deal on Attala County capital murder case

According to the Kosciusko Star-Herald, Robert Landfair pled guilty to accessory after the fact to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. He had been charged with capital murder, two counts of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Landfair was sentenced to 10 years in the penitentiary. He had been facing the death penalty.

Landfair was represented by Kosciusko attorney Richard Carter, who obviously did a mammoth job for his client. Landfair's three co-defendants are still facing trial in October on the capital murder, aggravated assault, and conspiracy charges.

Major kudos to Mr. Carter.

Kathey Nester did one better than this. Some years ago, her client was charged with capital murder. She took it to trial and he was convicted of accessory after the fact. He got a 3 year sentence. Meanwhile, his codefendants (the guy's nephews who had different lawyers) pleaded guilty and are still moldering in the pen filing one post conviction petition after another.

Kathy Nester is an excellent lawyer as well, Jane. She and Clarence Guthrie got a split verdict on Antonio Turner's case in federal court earlier this month that was quite impressive.
