This morning, my Miata hammered a pothole the size of a crater on Pearl Street. As I wait at the car emergency room, I hope Mayor Johnson makes street repair a priority in his new administration. It's tough to bring commerce downtown if the main entrance from I-55 is impassible.

Jim, I've got a 2008 Civic that squeaks like my '72 El Camino used to. Ridiculous. I once had a busted engine mount--never heard of such a thing, hardly.

It is the city with the cratering tax base. Sales tax diversions are down for the recently completed state fiscal year another -6.5%. When you are bleeding off population and small businsses as fast as Jackson is molehills become mountains in the blink of an eye.
I've used this guy before. He does a good job.

Mayor Johnson had a systematic plan for street repavement, not sure that that’s the same as street repair. He used a computer model to rate the condition of any particular street and the amount of traffic the street received to set the priority for repavement.
Serves you right for driving a pussy car.
Harvey Johnson's prioritization was never the issue and I'm sure he'll return to the approach since it was well thought out.
But, if you have only 15% of the money it takes to work the list on an annual basis then all the priority logic in the world still only gets you nowhere fast.
there's a lot of repair work starting on North State Street now. that makes me and my car happy. I'm assuming this has something to do with the new mayor. If so, thanks, Harvey.
